As part of our efforts to strengthen the information activities of the United Nations, UNO Eritrea/ DPI coordinated the participation of the UN System in the 5th Eritrean National Book Fair which was held at Asmara Expo ground in March 2006. During this educational outreach activity, they distributed UN publications such as Basic Facts about United Nations, UN Charter, and Universal Declaration of Human Rights. In addition, different agency specific publications were displayed to the public. UNICEF, UNFPA, UNMEE, FAO, OCHA, UNDP, UNHCR, World Bank and WHO participated in the Book Fair as a team under the umbrella of UN system Eritrea. Throughout this outreach activity, according to the organizing committee, more than 20,000 people visited the book fair. The UN system booth was one of most crowded stands as thousands of students and other attendees were interested to know more about the United Nations.
